Mona Hessing | Brutalist Architecture | Candlelight Concert

Wow...!!! 😲 Mona Hessing's 'Masonic Tapestry' is an incredible and powerful tapestry at over 9m in height an 4m wide featuring impactful natural colours and textures, it is truly captivating! 🧡🤎

I love the 1970's concrete architecture, Brutalist style I have learned. Just look at those concrete forms, bold curves and defining lines. 🩶😲

We arrived and the Sydney Masonic Centre was in darkness, lit only by candles for the Candlelight 🕯️ Concert 🎶 the string quartet which was brilliant! Shame about the photo 😂

SCOBY & Clay Play

SCOBY & clay play and what is a SCOBY?

What is a SCOBY...? 🤔

After my last post, everyone wants know, so... It is a living culture used in the making of kombucha. 🥃

SCOBY is an acronym for symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast and is pronounced Sokh-bee.

I brew my own kombucha in 2 continuous brew pots and being a health living culture they reproduce over and over with each brew so every so often I have to remove some of the SCOBY to make room for the kombucha.

Then I dry them whole or cut and make a SCOBY material to use in my maker's practice. 🤭

Yup, these stunning handcrafted, arm knitted, wool scarves! Made with only our arms, no knitting needles in sight from lush 100% pure wool!

These lovely ladies have all experienced the sense of achievement by completing and proudly wearing home a warm and plush arm knit wool scarf they each made themselves at an arm knitting workshop. Choosing a vibrant and energetic colour that is an expression of their creative spirit. How cool is that!

Arm Knitting Scarf Workshops are being held again this year, 17 April, 15 May, 17 July and 14 August at The New Artisans Gallery. The workshops are limited and the groups are intimate in size to ensure a fun filled, relaxed experience with personal one-on-one arm knitting lessons.

Don't forget, being on my mailing list gives you the benefit of hearing about this a couple of days before it goes out to everyone else so take advantage and sign up for an arm knitting workshop while there are still spots available.

We may not need a scarf just yet but as being a diligent Girl Guide taught me 'Be Prepare'!

The Dilemma... A Zen Experience Or A Quick Accomplishment

What a dilemma! I am so excited I simply want to devour this inspiring book cover to cover. But wait...

Haiku is intrinsically Zen, so instead I mindfully savoured every page in a comfy chair with a delicious cup of tea. A delightful and meditative experience.

It is the author, Zen Master Brahm (Yogi Brahmasamhara) who first introduced me to Haiku poetry. A poetic form 'describing something which has been momentarily seized and rapidly penned in a minimalist 17 syllables - Brahm'. A haiku poem has only 3 lines - 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second line and 5 in the third line, a total of 17 syllables.

Zen Master Brahm is the most genuine, natural, insightful and guiding teacher of Zen Meditation I have had the privilege to learn from. Brahm is truely authentic, living the same Zen life he teaches.

He established The Meditation Sanctuary 18 years ago and his teachings and meditation courses are sincerely as he states 'Complete, gentle, enjoyable and utterly natural way to gradually calm our entire physical, mental and emotional being. It then enables us to see, understand and ‘let go’ the negative aspects of our being that hinder our natural and joyful engagement with life'.

If you felt that little flutter of resonance then explore the Meditation Sanctuary and see where it takes you.

rocks... Nature's patterns
awe, seen with attentive eyes oneness transpires

Haiku Poem and Earrings to Wear Anytime Even When You Don’t Go Anywhere or See Anyone

These intriguing ocean steps, leading into the vivid colours and smooth ocean waters are the inspiration for this haiku poem. A Way of Being...

Crashing waves, will come!
Ride the waves, not resist them
Float in calm moments.

I have been delighting in and captivated by turquoise - green / blue and aqua - blue / green of late. Cool colours, relaxing and serene. Symbolising peace, calm and relaxation.

No surprise then I've been attracted to wearing these sculptural earrings. Yup, I wear these earrings around the house and in the studio, even if I don't go out anywhere or see anyone, simply because they enliven the day. They are also a very welcomed gift.

These dangling earrings have been handmade in an array of exciting colours, so there is sure to be a colour that captures a mood or favourite colour or the essence of a friend.
